muffled whispers down darkened corridors,
hollowed out of worn down bone,
narrow,
then wider,
then narrow once again,
flickering lights behind my mirror eyes,
peeking out from behind heavy lashes,
shining almost inviting out toward you,
shivering stairways groaning under feather light footfalls,
sun bleach wallpaper from photos taken down,
stacked in trembling piles of mismatched frames,
what remains now that everyone is gone?
